Samberg, Timberlake and Gaga Spoof the Devil’s Three-Way

Gaga, Samberg and Timberlake get down to it.

Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake are known for their musical
parodies of terrible 90′s R & B. “Dick in a Box” and “Mother Lovers”
both became internet video sensations and it’s highly likely that the
“Golden Rule” will go viral as well, especially since Lady Gaga guest
stars in the video.

I watched this on hulu
recently and the song has been in my head ever since. Specifically the
lyrics: “it’s ok when it’s in a three-way, it’s not gay when it’s in a
three-way.” Hearing those words in my head over and over again got me
thinking about the implications of this video.

You can see this video as funny because of the unconscious desire of the characters and their 90′s ridiculousness.

Check out these outfits. Amazing.

Or, if you’re homophobic you can attribute the terrible fashion to
gay-ness instead of the 90′s and think that it’s funny “because those
guys were fags after all” (with fag = stupid, lame, disgusting, etc.)

I don’t think Samberg, Timberlake or (especially) Gaga made this
video to be homophobic. I just think there’s a-lot of homophobic people
out there who may take it as funny for the wrong reasons.

According to a user who defined the Devil’s Threesome on Urban
Dictionary.com, “It is the worst ratio to have in a threesome, except of
course 3:0.” These sorts of homophobic sentiments (and much worse
sentiments) are everywhere on the internet, and I’m never sure if the
internet is an accurate representation of what people are really like on
the inside or if it’s just where people go to be their worst selves.

Regardless of the homophobes, I would recommend watching the video
and enjoy it with the idea that Samberg and Timberlake’s characters are
celebrating their bisexuality in the same hilariously inappropriate way
that they mom swapped. My two favorite parts of the video have to be
Gaga walking in on Samberg and Timberlake and “helicopter dick”.
Amazing.

Fight For Your Gay Rights

This Saturday the House of Representatives voted to put marriage
on the ballot in Minnesota despite the very rational, reasonable
arguments from the opposition. The Star Tribune has a great photo of
protesters posted with their article on the subject.

The way to fight this is to speak out about it and keep being who we
are. As this fight for equality goes on, those who are against equal
rights for gay people look increasingly more like they are advocating
for hate. I don’t know how the vote is going to turn out this time
around but I know that history is on our side. My hope is that ten years
from now it will be apparent that the legislators who voted for this,
voted to put discrimination into the constitution.

Constitutional Marriage Amendment: Speeches and Glitter Stunts

The Minnesota House of
Representatives votes today on whether to allow a ballot initiative. The
following features a great speech by John Marty; he speaks out against
allowing others to decide what is right for all people. Please call your
representatives if you live in Minnesota and tell them you don’t
support a ballot initiative.

This second video is of a protester, Nick Espinosa, dumping glitter
all over Newt Gingrich and saying, “Feel the rainbow, Newt! Stop the
hate! Stop anti-gay politics!” The guy who kicks Espinosa out of the
room is so spooky, like evil villain spooky. Check it out.

Don’t Say Gay Legislation

What is going on in Tennessee right now? Law makers are working
on a bill that makes it illegal to mention anything related to
homosexuality in public elementary and middle schools. They’re calling
it the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. Seriously.

The Alyona Show does a good job of talking about why this bill is pointless on her feature “Tool Time.”

For a more aggressively irreverent perspective, the good people at www.fckH8.com have done a video as well (possibly NSFW due to copious swearing)

My
favorite part of this story though, has to be George Takei’s offer of
his own name to replace the word gay. He posted this on Twitter
recently.

Escapist Post-Apocalyptic Music Video Round Up

Things have been a little heavy lately. With all this talk in
Minnesota about amending the constitution to ban gay marriage I’ve been
turning to music videos as my usual form of escapism. (If you want to do
something about the constitutional amendment situation, Outfront and Project 515 can tell you how to help)

I’m pretty sure that music videos (as well as monster movies and
current legislation) tell us something about the culture we’re living
in. Of course there’s always going to be quite a few
I’m-a-rich-rockstar/rapper type videos, but lately there’s also a common
thread of total world destruction or other creepy futures. Britney,
Lupe Fiasco, Katy Perry and Cake all have their own take on
world-is-ending type videos. Here’s a few stills from them.

No talking in Lupe Fiasco’s dark future

If you agitate people you have to wear crazy goggles and watch super 8 films

Brit and her friends are partying because outside the world is ending

If my world looked like this I’d be dancing underground also

Katy Perry as an Alien Deer

The future is bright for alien deer and their robot lovers

This poor guy is looking dejected because he and his monkey friend were captured and are going to be hung by evil forces

So much for getting cheered up by some meaningless happy pop music.
At least there’s always Gaga. I don’t like Judas that much as a song,
and the video isn’t the amazingness of Telephone, but I have to say
there’s nothing wrong with Gaga in a hot tub with Judas and Jesus. Also
she’s more literally becoming Madonna. Funny?

Super hot Madonna Gaga

Is that Jesus pouring beer all over Gaga’s ass while Judas watches? Yes it is.
